There is a picture of this house online, around the 1950s. There is a birdfeeder on the left-side of the lawn and sunshades over each of the windows. I like the way these neighborhoods and houses looked back then much better than today.

Very interesting and I enjoyed the video! I actually live two blocks from there and I never knew the story until now! I moved to Brevard county in 2010 and it closed before I was even born and I'm old 🤣 a couple of corrections, there is a video of the park and it shows the entrance, the petting zoo and a bunch of other sites that you may want to check out. You said there was no videos and you thought it was because they never turned a profit? No it was because it was between the '60s and I mean that was super long ago and also how many people had camcorders then, but either way I'm sure they did turn a profit at one point and there is a few videos for you to check out?

Appreciated your video. I played hundreds of rounds at PMCC over several years. Started in my Jr Hi days at Southwest, then while on the Mel Hi golf team I played it 5 days a week when Bill Kennedy was the head professional. I caddied for Sandra Post and Donna Caponi in the 2 LPGA events you spoke of. Then after college I turned pro and my first assistant job was with Bob Dolci at PMCC. Left PMCC in early 1975 to join the staff at Pinehurst Country Club in NC. Your video brought back a lot of good memories. It's a shame it didn't survive. Thanks again

Wonderful video. I could absolutely identify with you when you said times were good with your life and family then. Mine was as well. How I miss those years and long for them to return. Secretariat I think brings that to so many people. Your video was just so nice to watch. I've been watching alot of Secretariat lately because he represents a wonderful time of the past that will never be forgotten. I was only 5 when he was champion so I had no idea who he was, but I knew I was happy. RIP Secretariat

I could talk to you for some time about both the north and south fields. In another episode you spoke of Jake Early. He was groundskeeper at the north fields. He knew me, as his son went to the same HS I did. Jake called me the "last of the choke-up hitters." He once picked Ted Williams off third base twice in one game. Jake was quite a gentleman. When I played in LL, we practiced on the south fields, which might have been changed from their original configurations. In JuCo, my first hit was to LCF on the main field in the North complex. Bruce Bochy was on our club. Goodness, such great memories. Thank yo so much.

I used to run a vending route, and served the citrus packing plant that Karl Spooner worked at. I have family buried in the same cemetery as Danny Ozark. And while in HS, I played at Provost Park, the former MiLB site. After HS, I was asked to play with a black team from Melbourne, FL, and we played at Provost. Thank you for posting. In 1974 or so my family seriously considered buying a home along one of the fairways, I don’t remember which hole. We walked through the house under construction. My father saw the growth potential of the Melbourne/Palm Bay Area. Turns out we decided to stay in central Merritt Island. Sad to see the place the way it is now. It reminds me of Royal Oak Country Club in Titusville, FL. I played there for the first time in 1974 in a junior golf tournament run by a woman named Mrs. Olman (not sure of the spelling). The place was so special back then. A drive by it now is a sad one. It was the first time I played a par 72 course as my buddy and I played daily at Sam Snead All American Golf on US1 in Sharpes, which is yet another local course gone forever. We played Sam’s every day during the summer of ‘74 and got dialed in pretty well. We regularly broke 60 there that summer. Good times. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I used to manage it and it was bought up by a big corporation, then it and several other company restaurants around the country were sold or developed for other uses. It was a case where the land was worth more split up and sold separately. I have amazing stories about events in every dining room, courtyards, and the mall.

The video is appreciated, thank you. I, too, walked around as you did about 10 years ago. On our last visit (December, 2023) the gardens, waterfalls, etc. were padlocked. There were signs posted (not too friendly). It was not the positive atmosphere of previous years and times. We used to eat at the restaurant, in its heyday. I was very, very young but have vivid memories of everything. I even have one of the glasses, engraved with the name of the restaurant. The owner was charismatic and positive. He seemed to care about others and their experience. Following his death, he must have been a hard act to follow, if not impossible. Thank you, Mr. Baumgardner, for all the awesome memories. P.S. The employees at the Sam Ash Music store were positive. Our sons are musicians, and we went there not only to see the former Kapok Tree Restaurant grounds (did not happen), but for musical reasons.
